Talk on “The Role of Empathy in Philanthropy”

16 October 2023 - 18 h 30 à 19 h 30

In collaboration with the Diploma of Advanced Study in Strategic and Operational Philanthropy, the McGill Alumni Association and Le Cercle de la Philanthropie.

Empathy has always been essential to philanthropy, but today it matters more than ever. The unprecedented intergenerational transfer of wealth, coupled with a rising tension between generations with respect to values, worldviews, and philanthropic priorities, means that family foundations and non-profit organizations need to center empathy in their work.

Informed by neuroscience and positive psychology, Anita Nowak, PhD and Faculty Member of the McGill Executive Institute, will discuss her Purposeful Empathy framework as a tool to help tackle today’s most pressing social and environmental challenges, and describe a powerful six-step practice to become a more empathic leader.
Please note that the event is free but registration is mandatory.
