ECONOMIC UPDATE WITH NIKOLAY MARKOV, LEAD ECONOMIST AT PICTET ASSET MANAGMENT

Canada and Switzerland have always demonstrated resilience and innovation, overcoming various challenges thanks to commendable economic prowess. The return of President Donald Trump to the White House has quickly destabilized the global economy. His on again, off-again tariff threats, used as a hard-nosed negotiating tactic to get his way in foreign policy, fly in the face of economic orthodoxy. Combined with trial balloon approach to foreign policy, the coming years threaten to be not only inflationary, but geopolitically unstable.

Nikolay Markov, Chief economist at Pictet Asset Management, will present the general impact of Trump’s new economic policies on the U.S. and global economy, and the ramifications and potential impact on the Canadian & Swiss economies.
