Vancouver’s Ballet BC is considered one of the most exciting companies in contemporary dance. For the first time—and as its only guest performance in Switzerland—the ensemble is now visiting Winterthur to present an evening that brings together diverse choreographic worlds. Under the artistic direction of Medhi Walerski, technical precision, physical intensity, and poetic imagery come together. Crystal Pite’s “Frontier” explores the invisible forces that influence our thoughts and actions. In “SWAY,” Medhi Walerski unfolds a fluid movement language of great lightness and beauty, inspired by Emily Dickinson’s famous poem about hope. With “Obsidian,” Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Schraiber create a work of immediate sensuality and emotional power, accompanied by live piano music.
