Art Without Borders – An Evening at Anthracite – Zurich
An Australian artist. An extraordinary Zürich art space. An evening of Canadian-Swiss connection.
Join the Canadian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce for an evening of contemporary art, conversation and new connections at Anthracite.
Currently on view is Thresholds, a solo exhibition by Australian artist Jacob Lucius Cartwright, whose practice moves between sculpture, architecture and landscape. Working primarily in Carrara marble and onyx, Cartwright explores how material, memory and place shape our experience of the spaces around us.
For Thresholds, one room at Anthracite has become a garden landscape centred around the work “Passage”, creating a world within a world and inviting visitors to move between object and environment, interior and exterior, the familiar and somewhere slightly elsewhere.
Jacob Lucius Cartwright will be present to speak about his practice, the works on view and the ideas behind the exhibition, with an opportunity for guests to ask questions and continue the conversation over drinks.
The evening will also offer an introduction to Anthracite, an independent art space in Zürich founded and curated by Ebba Wallmén, and its programme of international contemporary art and design.
In the spirit of the Chamber’s Canadian-Swiss community, the evening brings together art, people and perspectives in an extraordinary setting!
